The contractor is currently setting up the compound and preparing the site for the introduction of full traffic management systems on the A34 and the A4130 roundabout. The latest information regarding the Featherbed Lane and Hagbourne Hill improvement schemes is also included.

There has been a major fire at the South Oxfordshire and Vale of White
Horse District councils building in Crowmarsh Gifford.

Most services will be affected. The councils are putting their business
continuity plan into place to make sure the effect on the most important
front line services is kept to a minimum.

The councils will set up an emergency phone line for people who have
urgent enquiries.

Highway update

A34 Chilton to Milton Drainage Maintenance Scheme

The Highways Agency will be carrying out essential maintenance works to the drainage system along the A34 between the A4130 Milton Interchange and A4185 Chilton Junction. This scheme aims to reduce the risk of future flooding and supports Oxfordshire County Councils proposed improvement schemes at Chilton and Milton.

Work is scheduled to start in early-December 2014 and is expected to be completed by the end of May 2015*.

Update from South Oxfordshire and the Vale of White Horse Local Police Authority

I write this after one of the busiest weekends we have had for many months. As you will have no doubt seen in the local media on Sunday night, 19th October, our Officers were called to a murder in Abingdon and supported the Fire service with a major fire at Didcot Power Station. Having two such major incidents occur within such a short space of time placed significant demands on our resources and I am extremely proud of the effectiveness and professionalism with which we responded.

News from South Moreton Primary School

Our Nativity this year is on Wednesday 10th December at 2pm and Thursday 11th at 6pm. Members of the local community are warmly invited to the afternoon performance.

The Astons and Moretons Community Choir, accompanied by the South Moreton School choir, will be performing a selection of seasonal songs on Monday 15th December in North Moreton Church at 6pm. This will be the choir’s last concert under the direction of their current musical director, Mark Stanley. All welcome. Donations will be collected in aid of local charities.

Finally, for anyone in the community who knows Mrs Susan Gopall and wishes to join her for a farewell cup of tea and cake on Friday 12th December at 2:30pm, you would be most welcome. Please contact the school office on 01235 813110 or and let them know, so we have an idea of numbers.
