I am sure<br \/>\neveryone in the local community will join me in wishing him well in his new role and I know<br \/>\nhe is looking forward to meeting you all.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Local Priorities<\/span><br \/>\nThe Wallingford Sector neighbourhood Local Priorities that have been identified by the<br \/>\ncommunity and police are:<br \/>\n\u2022 Violent crime<br \/>\n\u2022 Burglary<br \/>\n\u2022 Rural crime<br \/>\nThese are being dealt with by your neighbourhood policing team in partnership with<br \/>\nresidents and other agencies.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Violent crime<\/span><br \/>\nUnfortunately there was some disorder over a weekend in November in the town centre.<br \/>\nPC Bob McIntyre works very closely with the local pubs ensuring that those that are<br \/>\ninvolved in disorder are prosecuted but also that they will be banned on Pubwatch for a<br \/>\nlong period of time. There is also very good CCTV in Wallingford town centre which<br \/>\nenables the police to identify offenders who wish to cause trouble and upset the night time<br \/>\neconomy.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Burglary<\/span><br \/>\nOver the weekend of 29 November a number of sheds and a building site were broken into<br \/>\nat Brightwell- cum- Sotwell. Please ensure your sheds are secure and that your padlocks<br \/>\nare anti-bolt crop. Also it is worth looking on the internet and purchasing a shed alarm,<br \/>\nthese typically cost between \u00a310 &#8211; \u00a320.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">SmartWater<\/span><br \/>\nAnother deterrent is to mark your property with SmartWater, more information is available\u00a0from their website <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smartwater.com\">www.smartwater.com<\/a>. Kits will soon be available at Wallingford Police\u00a0Station for \u00a315 each (opening times can be found on our website\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thamesvalley.police.uk\">www.thamesvalley.police.uk<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Rural crime<\/span><br \/>\nOn 27 November three men were arrested in Benson for the offence of night poaching.<br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Crime prevention advice<\/span><br \/>\nOn 5 December the Wallingford Neighbourhood Policing Team will be visiting the village of\u00a0Ewelme to offer residents crime prevention advice. This is something we will aim to do in\u00a0all the villages in the New Year.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Community engagement<\/span><br \/>\nPCSO Jennie Cox and PCSO Louis Page visited the 2nd Scouts Group and spoke to them<br \/>\nabout personal safety to help them achieve their public service badges.<\/p>\n<p>PCSO Sue Harris and PC Simone O\u2019Dell spent the day of 29 November in Waitrose,<br \/>\nWallingford collecting donated food for hampers for the elderly in the area, who will be on<br \/>\ntheir own this Christmas. We were overwhelmed with the generosity of Waitrose customers<br \/>\nand would like to thank everyone who donated.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Anti-drink and drug drive campaign \u2013 is it worth the risk?<br \/>\n<\/span>The Christmas and New Year anti-drink drive campaign will take place between Monday 1\u00a0December and 1 January across all police forces in the UK. To continue the theme from\u00a0last year and this summer the joint Thames Valley and Hampshire campaign is called \u2018Is it\u00a0worth the risk?\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Over the years these campaigns have been highly successful in reducing the numbers of<br \/>\ndrink drivers on our roads which is a major factor in death and injury to our community.<br \/>\nResearch shows that increasing the number of breath tests conducted by officers reduces<br \/>\nthe number of drink drive crashes. One in seven UK road deaths result from drink drive<br \/>\ncrashes where the driver was over the limit.<\/p>\n<p>The annual TISPOL Drink Drive campaign will add the weight of European police forces to<br \/>\nthe campaign with a week of action taking place Monday 8 December through to Sunday<br \/>\n14 December. TISPOL is committed to reducing death, serious injury and crime on<br \/>\nEurope&#8217;s roads. Its activities are guided by research, intelligence, information and<br \/>\nexperience, to produce measurable results that contribute to reducing casualties and<br \/>\nmaking roads safer. More information can be found at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tispol.org\">www.tispol.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Drugs arrests<\/span><br \/>\nOn 17 November PC James Moxey, PC Simone O\u2019Dell and PC Bob McIntyre arrested<br \/>\nthree people in Wallingford for possession of drugs.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Crime Mapping<\/span><br \/>\nThe Home Office national crime mapping website gives the public access to street-level<br \/>\ncrime information as well as information on their Neighbourhood Policing Teams,<br \/>\nNeighbourhood Priorities and Events &#8211; details of Have Your Say and other neighbourhood<br \/>\nactivities. Log on to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.police.uk\">www.police.uk<\/a>, type in your local postcode or neighbourhood name and<br \/>\nthen click on \u2018Find out more\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Thames Valley Alert<\/span><br \/>\nReceive free local crime alerts and crime prevention advice by registering at<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thamesvalleyalert.co.uk\">www.thamesvalleyalert.co.uk<\/a> today. This allows anyone who signs up to choose what<br \/>\nupdates they receive and how they would like to receive it. A new option includes receiving<br \/>\ninformation via text but more traditional landline and email messages are still available.<\/p>\n<p>You can also filter the updates you receive by specifying the priority level of the messages<br \/>\nyou receive.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Have Your Say meetings<\/span><br \/>\nUpcoming Have Your Say meetings are:<br \/>\n\u2022 Friday 5 December, outside the primary school, High Street, South Moreton, with<br \/>\nPCSO Sue Harris.<br \/>\n\u2022 Wednesday 10 December, in the Market Place, Wallingford, with PCSO Jennie Cox.<br \/>\n\u2022 Monday 15 December, outside the Co-Op, Fane Drive, Berinsfield, with PCSO<br \/>\nJennie Cox.<br \/>\n\u2022 Tuesday 16 December, in the Parish Hall car park, Sunnyside, Benson, with PCSO<br \/>\nSue Harris.<\/p>\n<p>These meetings are an ideal opportunity for local residents to speak to their local police<br \/>\nofficers and PCSOs about any local issues, no appointment is necessary just turn up and<br \/>\nspeak to your local officers.
