The Great South Moreton Grass Rake

On Sunday 13th July residents of South Moreton spanning 76 years of age and between 0-100% of blood alcohol level joined together to clean up the long grass in the rec.

Rumours of “an hour” turned out to be slightly understated but with the help of various tractors, front loaders, a baler (which we broke), a big trailer and lots of lots of people with rakes (some of which we broke) the rec was cleared and cleaned ahead of the school summer holidays in a mere 6 hours.

A huge thank you to all those that lent a hand on the day.

A special thanks to those who brought the larger machinery to break the back of the initial task.

  • Billy for cutting and trailer
  • Lee for the Baler
  • Ken for the Rake and Angus Dart for the loan of the tractor and equipment.

Grass raking and bailing – all going nicely, powering through, sadly the bailer didn’t get much further than this as the grass was too short for it.
